Château de La Chapelle-Bertrand
The Château de La Chapelle-Bertrand, in the Deux-Sèvres, dates from the second half of the 15th century or the early 16th. It is fronted to the south by a courtyard enclosed by walls and outbuildings, entered through a porch in a single-storey square tower. A round tower flanks the enclosure to the south-east, and farm buildings extend to the west.
To the north, two wings of outbuildings enclose a square courtyard. A round tower at the corner of the west outbuilding seems contemporary with the residence and housed stables and the bakery. Other outbuildings, including a pigsty from the second half of the 19th century, and a garden complete the estate. The north tower has collapsed.
