Muséotrain de Semur en Vallon

Sarthe, Pays de la Loire

The Muséotrain de Semur-en-Vallon is a railway heritage site created by the Compagnie du chemin de fer de Semur-en-Vallon association, in the Sarthe. On about five hectares, volunteers have built a real old-style railway, whose first line opened in 1972 with Decauville rails salvaged from Mondoubleau. The site is devoted to the story of Paul Decauville and the world of trains in the first half of the 20th century.

The Muséotrain is reached by a Decauville-type train. The museum building, of more than 650 m², displays thirteen items of rolling stock, the oldest dating from 1876 and the most recent from 1969.

The site opens in season, from May to October, with occasional train departures and events such as themed evenings and the European Heritage Days. It lies in the Sarthe countryside, east of Le Mans.
