Musée Matisse du Cateau-Cambrésis
Housed in the former Palais Fénelon since 1982, the Matisse museum at Le Cateau-Cambrésis, in the Nord, offers a fine panorama of the work of one of the greatest artists of the 20th century.
The renovated museum has seventeen exhibition rooms. The Matisse collection fills the main building of the palace, where ten rooms tell the life and work of Henri Matisse in ten stages. The collection of Auguste Herbin, born at Quiévy in 1882, is arranged in the new building in five rooms. The Tériade room presents the gift of the famous publisher: 27 books and some 500 prints by great artists such as Chagall, Léger, Rouault, Miró, Matisse and Le Corbusier.
