Musée du Président Jacques Chirac

Corrèze, Nouvelle-Aquitaine

The President Jacques Chirac Museum is at Sarran, in the Corrèze, about thirty kilometres north-east of Tulle, in the Massif Central. It was opened on 15 December 2000 by Jacques Chirac himself. The architect Jean-Michel Wilmotte designed the building as a contemporary hamlet with a rural spirit.

It holds some 5,000 diplomatic gifts offered to the President of the Republic between 1995 and 2007, which Jacques Chirac gave to the Corrèze département. About 800 objects are on display, and the site also has a library and a temporary exhibition space.

The museum is broadening its scope to present the personality of the Fifth Republic president: a reconstruction of the Salon Doré, the presidents' office at the Élysée, was created from 2023 and continues with a Presidential Gallery. It appeals to those interested in recent political history, lovers of art objects from around the world and families passing through the Corrèze.
