Manoir de l'automobile
The Manoir de l'Automobile, also called the Manoir de l'Automobile et des Vieux Métiers, is a museum of motoring history at Lohéac, in the south of the Ille-et-Vilaine. It occupies a 17th-century manor, a former farm called La Cour Neuve, chosen in 1985 by the publisher and collector Michel Hommell. The museum opened in 1988 after major works.
The collection numbers about 400 vehicles according to most sources, from the first horse-drawn carriages to Formula 1 cars. The 1899 De Dion-Bouton is the oldest car on display. Ferrari, Alpine-Renault and Lamborghini areas stand beside a starting grid of eighteen Formula 1 single-seaters from 1968 to 1993 and Group B rally cars.
There is also a room of scale models, motorcycles and bicycles, and a circuit used for demonstrations and driving sessions according to the calendar. It appeals to car enthusiasts and families.
