Frac Bretagne
The Fonds régional d'art contemporain de Bretagne has been housed since July 2012 in a building designed by the architect Odile Decq, in the Beauregard district of Rennes. Chosen in an international competition that drew 142 entries, the black, monolithic building faces Aurélie Nemours's work L'Alignement du XXIe siècle.
The building, of about 5,000 m², includes three exhibition galleries totalling 1,000 m², stores, a documentation centre, an auditorium, an education space and a restaurant. Ramps and footbridges lead up to a roof terrace.
The collection numbers about 4,800 works by more than 500 French and international artists, and it is designed to travel: each year a third of the works are shown, in Brittany, elsewhere in France or abroad. The Frac champions all forms of contemporary creation and all audiences, with exhibitions, educational activities and talks.
