Les Chevaliers du Kercorb Chalabre
The castle of Chalabre is in Chalabre, in the Aude, in the heart of Cathar country, about 50 minutes from Carcassonne. Built or altered in the 13th, 15th and 18th centuries, it has been open to visitors since 2002 and is still lived in.
The site operates as a participatory historical leisure park over an estate of several hectares. Families experience the Middle Ages actively: treasure hunts, nature trails, archery, an armoury, pony rides, wooden games, medieval workshops and costumed entertainment. Children can be dubbed knights, and activities take place whatever the weather.
The castle offers a family adventure in summer, an elves' festival in spring and a Halloween event in autumn, as well as visits for school groups and receptions.
