Les Arcs Bourg-Saint-Maurice
Les Arcs is a large resort in the Tarentaise, in Savoie, made up of several sites in tiers above Bourg-Saint-Maurice: Arc 1600, Arc 1800, Arc 1950 and Arc 2000. Arc 1600 is the original site, Arc 1800 the largest and liveliest, Arc 1950 a more recent pedestrian village, and Arc 2000 the highest, focused on skiing.
A funicular links Bourg-Saint-Maurice to Arc 1600 in a few minutes. Since the Vanoise Express opened in 2003, the area has been linked to La Plagne to form Paradiski, one of the great ski areas of the Alps.
In summer the area, which rises well above 3,000 metres, offers hiking and mountain-bike routes with wide views of the Mont Blanc massif and the Vanoise.
