Le Reptilarium
The Reptilarium is a park devoted to reptiles at Labenne, on the southern Landes coast, not far from the ocean. It opened in 2000 and presents more than 150 live animals from different continents, in terrariums and vivariums spread over several hundred square metres.
Visitors can see snakes, including venomous species, brightly coloured lizards, giant tortoises and crocodilians, shown in secure enclosures. Keepers give interactive talks that help people understand these often misunderstood animals.
The site also has an area with iguanas living in semi-freedom and an alligator greenhouse, as well as a mini farm where children can feed goats, rabbits and guinea pigs. A practical visit for families curious about nature, to combine with a day on the Landes coast.
