Le Pont du Gard

Gard, Occitanie

The Pont du Gard is the key element of an aqueduct running from Uzès to Nîmes, in the Gard. Built by the Romans, probably in the first half of the 1st century, it is one of the best-preserved aqueduct bridges in the world. It is a three-level bridge carrying the aqueduct over the Gardon, at Vers-Pont-du-Gard, near Remoulins.

A protection and development scheme has been under way on the site since 2000. Visitors are welcomed at the Domaine du Pont du Gard, a site labelled 'Grand Site de France' that combines relaxation and discovery.
