Le musée Rodin
Behind a facade of sobriety hides a jewel of an eighteenth-century mansion, which houses the permanent collections of the Rodin Museum. Besides the sculptor's masterpieces, a few works by his mistress and muse of tormented fate, Camille Claudel, are displayed. Strolling in the vast garden, the visitor discovers other major creations of the master: The Thinker, The Burghers of Calais or The Gates of Hell.
The Rodin Museum has since 1919 ensured the conservation and dissemination of the work of Auguste Rodin. It comprises two sites: the Hôtel de Biron, rue de Varenne, in the 7th arrondissement of Paris, and the Villa des Brillants, at Meudon. It keeps a collection of nearly 6,800 sculptures, 8,000 drawings and 10,000 old photographs.
