Le Grand Site Dunaire Gâvres Quiberon et la Ria d'Etel
The dune massif between the Gâvres peninsula and the Quiberon peninsula is the largest in Brittany with 25 linear kilometres of dunes.
Preserved from urbanisation, it forms a rich and remarkable natural and landscape area, holding various heritages, whether historical, cultural or intangible.
The dune, a complex, moving and fragile environment, is a strong marker of our landscape. A true rampart, it protects human installations from the assaults of the sea. It also shelters a wealth of both plant and animal life, an abundance confirmed year after year by fauna and flora inventories.
In the commune of Plouhinec, the dune extends over several hundred hectares, between the Barre d'Étel semaphore and Linès beach.
