Le château de LEHELEC
The Château de Lehelec is at Béganne, in the Morbihan, on the road from Redon to Muzillac. Built in 1660 by Jean Le Mintier, it combines red schist and granite and is registered as a historic monument. Still lived in, it has belonged to the same family since 1578, a continuity that gives it the atmosphere of a family home rather than a frozen monument.
The guided tour covers the château, its outbuildings and its gardens, notably during the European Heritage Days. The estate's website describes the tour and access arrangements. It is an interesting stop for discovering the architectural heritage of southern Brittany, between Redon and the Morbihan coast, in an unspoilt rural setting.
