Lac et cascade d'Anglas

Pyrénées-Atlantiques, Nouvelle-Aquitaine

Lac d'Anglas is a small mountain lake at 2,068 metres, in the commune of Eaux-Bonnes, at the head of a cirque framed by the Pène-Médaa (2,521 m) and the Arre Sourins (2,614 m).

Reached from the Gourette resort, the path crosses the Bois de Saxe and follows the Valentin before passing near the Anglas waterfall, fed by snowmelt, which drops just below the lake. This hike corresponds to the fourteenth stage of the GR10, the trail that crosses the Pyrenees from ocean to sea. The ascent, of about 700 metres, is steepest in the last few hundred metres before the site.
