Gave de Brousset
The Brousset valley is part of the Ossau valley, above Laruns, in the Pyrénées-Atlantiques. The area is crossed by mountain roads leading to the passes of the Aubisque, the Pourtalet, on the Spanish border, and Marie-Blanque.
The surroundings have many natural sites: the lakes of Bious-Artigues, Ayous, Arrémoulit and Anglas, the Brousset and Soussouéou valleys, the forests of Gélan, Sesques and Le Bitet, and the Gave d'Ossau with its waterfalls. The vast pastures of the Anéou and Bénou plateaus reflect a living pastoral tradition, with transhumance and cheese-making. From June to September the little Artouste train runs along the mountainside at 2,000 metres, over ten kilometres of track to the Artouste lake dam.
