Lac de Trécolpas
Lac de Trécolpas is a lake in the Mercantour massif, at 2,150 metres' altitude, above Le Boréon, in the commune of Saint-Martin-Vésubie, in the Mercantour National Park. It lies in a cirque of rock and alpine grassland, with a small rocky islet and peaks in the background, and offers one of the most photographed landscapes in the region.
It is reached by a hike of medium difficulty from Le Boréon, climbing through the forest before reaching the pastures. The site is very busy in summer, but the setting remains grandiose. Bring water, warm clothes and good shoes, and respect the national park rules, notably for dogs, which are banned.
