La Peyro Clabado
The Peyro Clabado is a 780-tonne granite rock balanced on another rock, the contact between the two measuring just one square metre. It stands on the Pic des Fourches, a kilometre from Lacrouzette, in the Sidobre, in the Tarn.
Beneath the rock, erosion has carved hollows known as 'marmites' (potholes). Local people once called it the 'Roc des Pattes' (rock of the footprints) because of these hollows, which they took for the footprints of mammoths, oxen or humans.
