La cascade de Magenta dans la vallée de Lesponne

Hautes-Pyrénées, Occitanie

The Magenta waterfall is in the Lesponne valley, above Bagnères-de-Bigorre, in the Hautes-Pyrénées. It is made up of several levels and is crossed by a wooden bridge, which lets you cross it. It was formerly known as the Aspi or La Truite waterfall.

According to a hypothesis put forward by a local brochure, its present name comes from the French victory at Magenta, in 1859, the year the bridge was built.

The waterfall is reached by a short path from the valley road, shortly after the Barane park. You can go down to the foot of the fall, and spring and early summer are the best times to see it well fed.
