Historial de la Vendée
The Historial de la Vendée is a museum retracing the history of the Vendée, from Prehistory to the early twenty-first century. It is near the Mémorial de la Vendée in the heart of the natural area of the Boulogne valley, more precisely at Les Lucs-sur-Boulogne. It opened its doors on 26 June 2006 after 3 years of work, the first stone having been laid on 22 September 2003 by Philippe de Villiers, president of the Vendée Conseil Général from 1988 to 2010. The new museum facility takes over the collections of the former Écomusée du Puy du Fou, which has since closed. The museum, owned by the Vendée Conseil Général and managed by the Departmental Conservation of Vendée museums, has been labelled Musée de France.
