Fourcès

Gers, Occitanie

Located in the Auzoue valley, the village was first built around a castle with a wooden keep. A perfect round bastide, it was formed around the twenty or so houses that survived the demolition of 1488. The west gate is intact in the old tower called the clock tower. The present castle is said to have been built under Louis XII and Francis I on the site of the old stronghold. Outside the enclosure, passing the old bridge, you should see the church that has kept its original bell tower.
