Fort du Cap Levi
Between a small typical port of the Val de Saire and the great lighthouse of Gatteville, the Fort du Cap Lévi is at the heart of a vast natural area protected by the Conservatoire du Littoral. Built in the early nineteenth century to take part in the defence of the Cherbourg roadstead, the fort is today a place of discovery and stay. Free admission.
The fort du cap Lévi is a former Napoleonic fort of the nineteenth century, on the north coast of the Cotentin, in the commune of Fermanville. With eleven other batteries, it formed the Cotentin coastal defences against the British navy, and protected coastal shipping near the anchorages.
