Forêt des Singes
The Forêt des Singes is a park devoted to Barbary macaques, at L'Hospitalet, a few minutes from Rocamadour, in the Lot. These primates, threatened in their native Maghreb, live free in a wooded area that visitors walk through on foot, in direct contact with them.
Guides accompany the visit, answer questions and explain the behaviour and social organisation of this species. A feeding time punctuates the route, which lasts about an hour and a half for a little over a kilometre of walking. The path is accessible to pushchairs and wheelchairs.
The park is part of a conservation effort: macaques born on site have been reintroduced to the Atlas mountains in North Africa. It also offers a breakfast with the monkeys for visitors aged 14 and over.
