Château du Rivau
The Château du Rivau is a seigneurial fortress whose first foundations date back to the 13th century. It is in Touraine, at Lémeré in the Indre-et-Loire, between Tours and Poitiers, near Chenonceau and Villandry, and is one of the Loire châteaux. The château has been listed as a historic monument since 1918 and the outbuildings since 1999, and its farm has been registered since 1988.
The medieval castle looks as if it has stepped out of a fairy tale. Besides its rich past, it has fourteen gardens evoking fairy tales and old legends. A trail leads through themed gardens, contemporary artworks and animals in a friendly setting that suits families well.
