Château du Chassan

Cantal, Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes

The Château du Chassan, in the Cantal, is a classical architectural ensemble of the 14th and 18th centuries: a main building flanked by two wings framing a main courtyard, with a French formal garden.

Elegantly furnished salons, 17th-century tapestries and family mementoes reflect an old way of life recalling the Enlightenment. The visit tells the story of a château maintained through the centuries and lived in by the same family since its origins. Exhibitions show costumes of the past and collections of fossils and minerals.
