Château de Vayres

Gironde, Nouvelle-Aquitaine

15 minutes from Bordeaux, the château de Vayres (13th–16th–17th centuries) is one of the most beautiful monuments of Aquitaine. It belonged to the d'Albret family and to its illustrious representative, King Henry IV.

Ideally set on the banks of the Dordogne, which it overlooks, this former medieval fortress was harmoniously remodelled in the Renaissance then in 1700. The château de Vayres, a classified Historic Monument whose park has received the Remarkable Garden label, is a private property that has always been inhabited. Successive owners have striven, with passion, to maintain it.

From French-style gardens to the medieval garden, from the banks of the Dordogne to the interiors that will take you through the centuries, we invite you to discover a magnificent and very much living heritage.
