Château de Valmer
The Château de Valmer, in the Indre-et-Loire, backed by an 80-hectare park, has superb Italian-style terraced gardens following the slope of the hillside, with a unique view. Over more than eight levels and some thirty metres of height difference come balustrades, statues, columns, staircases and fountains, creating spaces with varied atmospheres: hornbeam hedges, hydrangeas in the moats, yew topiary, santolina and Anduze vases.
Chequerboards of colours and flavours, unusual edible plants, flowers to taste and nectar-rich plants that support insect diversity adorn the kitchen garden of this château with a renowned winemaking tradition. The visit includes the cellars, tasting and sale of the Vouvray wines made and bottled at the château by the owner.
