Château de Vallery
The Château de Vallery, or Château des Condé, a Renaissance building, stands in the commune of Vallery in the Yonne, on the border of Burgundy and the Île-de-France. It is the work of Jacques d'Albon, Marshal of Saint-André. Its architecture, well ahead of its time, foreshadows the Louis XIII style with its mix of brick walls and stone quoins. It remained unfinished at its owner's death.
The château's garden and orchard have been listed as historic monuments since 1946, and the château and its outbuildings since 2001. The visit reveals a château associated with the Condé family, and its gardens, in the Gâtinais countryside.
