Château de Sainte-Hermine
The château de Sainte-Hermine stands in the heart of the commune of Sainte-Hermine, in the Vendée. It was the seat of an important barony, whose lords were successively the Lusignan, Brienne and La Trémoille families.
In the sixteenth century, the barony was sold to François des Nouhes, companion of Henry IV. The château was rebuilt between 1620 and 1622 in a sober style, which corresponds to its remodelling under Louis XIII.
It is private property, listed as a historic monument since 17 February 2005. Visiting possibilities are not confirmed by recent sources; it is advisable to check with the town hall or the tourist office.
