Château de la Guignardière
The Château de la Guignardière, at Avrillé in the Vendée, is a Renaissance château also known as the Château des Aventuriers. Its construction began in 1554 on the initiative of Jean Girard, pantler and adviser to Francis I and then Henry II. Work was interrupted by the violent death of its patron, so the present building occupies only half of the original plan. It has been a listed historic monument since 1978.
The château can be visited freely, on a guided tour or with an interactive tablet trail based on solving riddles. The site also offers family adventures in the park, such as 'the pirate's treasure', 'the dino trail' or 'investigation at the château'.
The park of about 86 hectares includes ponds, shady paths and animals.
