Château de Peyrelade
Built between the 12th and 16th centuries, the castle of Peyrelade, in the Aveyron, was one of the most important fortresses of the Rouergue in the Middle Ages, thanks to its natural rock keep, which controlled the Tarn valley.
The guided tour reveals the site's eventful history, its very unusual architecture and the many restoration and excavation projects carried out over the past 25 years. It ends with the climb up the rock, which offers a superb panorama over the valley and the Tarn gorges. A new route features reconstruction drawings, activities and interpretation panels.
