Château de Nérac

Lot-et-Garonne, Nouvelle-Aquitaine

The Château de Nérac is a Louis XII-style building, marking the transition between Gothic and the early Renaissance, in Nérac, in the Lot-et-Garonne. It has been listed as a historic monument since 1862. Completed under Jeanne d'Albret, who held her court here, the château was dismantled during the Revolution; only the north wing survives.

It now houses a museum devoted to King Henry IV, with a permanent exhibition entitled 'Henri de Navarre sur les marches du trône'. The visit explores the history of the court of Navarre at Nérac and continues through the town, the Garenne park and along the Baïse.
