Château de Morsang
Pierre Durey d'Harnoncourt bought the property at Morsang-sur-Orge, in the Essonne, in 1739 and built the present château on the site of the 'maison plate' of the first lords of Morsang. It passed to his daughter, wife of Louis Jean de Bertier de Sauvigny, and in 1788 to Louis Bénigne François de Bertier, intendant of the Généralité of Paris, who was massacred in the first days of the Revolution.
In 1844 his son, Anne Ferdinand, sold the château; after several owners, it was bought back by Christian de Bertier in 1909. He carried out major works, building the gallery between the two return wings and the present wedding room at the north end. In 1946 the diocesan association added a building linking the 18th-century château to the 16th-century outbuildings.
