Château de Beauvoir
Of all the seigneurial and bourgeois residences that once lined the left bank of the Seine, the Château de Beauvoir, in the Essonne, is the only one to remain intact. Apparently once owned by the Rohan family, it dates in its present form from the 19th century.
Its neoclassical forms are due to the Revenaz-Pastré family, who dominated land ownership in Évry and neighbouring communes for a century and a half. The château now houses a vocational rehabilitation centre. The park keeps a few remains, including statues, a kiosk and the keeper's lodge, that bear witness to the estate's former importance.
