Château de Luc
The 12th-century castle of Luc, in the Lozère, is remarkable for its 'opus spicatum', or herringbone, masonry. On the borders of the Gévaudan and the Vivarais, this fortress above the Allier valley and the Tanargue massif was a strategic point on the Regordane way, used by pilgrims to Saint-Gilles in the Middle Ages.
The castle is now in ruins, but since 1978 it has been enhanced by a conservation association, the Amis du château de Luc. Visitors will find historical information, tourist trails and a viewpoint indicator on the terrace of the keep.
