Château de la Napoule
A few kilometres from Cannes, the Château de La Napoule occupies a prestigious seafront site known to the Romans more than 2,000 years ago. Home of the Counts of Villeneuve in the fourteenth century, the fortress was destroyed and rebuilt eight times before becoming a glassworks in the nineteenth century. When the château was restored, the park was entirely redesigned by Marie Clews.
She harmoniously combined a French formal layout with Romantic touches: the symmetry of the central alley opens onto lush English-style gardens, pools and fountains.
