Château de Vaugrenier

Alpes-Maritimes, Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur

Built at the end of the 16th century by a Provençal family related to Monseigneur du Laurens, a famous Archbishop of Arles, the Château de Vaugrenier, in the Alpes-Maritimes, is distinguished on its principal floor by a large central room, typical of Palladian buildings, and a small oratory rich in stucco. On the upper floors and especially on the ground floor there are magnificent vaulted rooms.

Around 1750 it was acquired by the family of the present owner. Restoration work uncovered traces of a brickworks and a silkworm nursery. These, now almost vanished, are planted with Mediterranean species such as palms, olives, laurels and climbers.
