Château de la Guerche
The Château de la Guerche, in the Indre-et-Loire, is a 15th-century château on the banks of the Creuse, set in a park. The rural commune of La Guerche, drained by the Creuse, lies within the catchment area of Châtellerault. The visit takes in the guardroom, a salon and the vaulted basements, which served as a grain store, an artillery room and a seigneurial prison.
The tour begins with a presentation of the exterior, whose architecture is a fine example of 15th-century art. The riverside site also invites a stroll. La Guerche lies on the border of Touraine and Poitou, between Descartes and Le Blanc.
