Le Château de Montrésor
The Château de Montrésor, in the heart of the village of the same name in Touraine, is a fully furnished residence whose interiors have hardly changed since the 19th century. It was acquired in 1849 by the Polish count Xavier Branicki, and the furniture, paintings and family mementoes have remained in place, an authentic record of an aristocratic residence.
The château still belongs to the descendants of the Branicki family, who live here. It is listed as a historic monument. Besides the tour of the rooms, it offers events through the year: a night visit for the Nuit des Châteaux and workshops for children, who study the furniture and paintings before imagining the decoration of a new room. The village of Montrésor is one of the Most Beautiful Villages of France, in the south of the Indre-et-Loire near Loches.
