Château de Gizeux
The Château de Gizeux, in the Indre-et-Loire, stands in a forest setting. It consists of a U-shaped central building of the 16th and 17th centuries, a long gallery at the back and a return wing known as the Henri II wing. To the north lies a large courtyard enclosed on two sides by 18th-century outbuildings and stables. A 14th- or 15th-century curtain-wall tower survives from the old castle.
The château's jewel is its 30-metre gallery, which has exceptional painted decoration dating from the late 17th century.
