Château de Gisors
The Château de Gisors, in the Eure, remains the emblematic monument of the town. On a free or guided visit, you can walk round its monumental curtain wall, its watchtowers and the prisoner's tower.
Outside, the walk crosses the dry moats, known as bannetons: this shady path, between watchtowers and earth banks, gives a view of the various military buildings.
Inside, the bailey has become a public garden where the motte and its remains stand in the shade of century-old trees. From its eastern end, the view takes in the old houses of the town below the fortified plateau.
