Château de Courtalain

Eure-et-Loir, Centre-Val de Loire

The Château de Courtalain, in the south-west of the Eure-et-Loir, near Arrou and the border of the Loir-et-Cher, is a composite ensemble. It combines medieval and Renaissance architecture with 19th-century English-inspired neo-medieval extensions, recalling the stay of the Montmorency family, then its owners, in England during the Revolution.

The estate is surrounded by a large English landscape park of about two hundred hectares, whose meadow and long vistas around the château are protected as historic monuments, as are the château and its outbuildings.

According to the Eure-et-Loir tourist office, the château can be visited; it also hosts weddings and receptions. Visiting arrangements may change and should be checked with the estate before going.
