Château de Coucy
The castle occupies the summit of a rocky spur. It communicated with the fortified town by a gate squeezed between two cylinders. It is divided into two unequal parts. The castle has been listed as a historic monument since 1862 and belongs to the State. The castle ruins are now the subject of restoration work and archaeological excavations have uncovered the foundations of a chapel. The site is open to visits.
The château de Coucy is a former fortress and lordly residence, built from the thirteenth century, now in ruins, whose remains stand in the commune of Coucy-le-Château-Auffrique, in the Aisne. It was the seat of the powerful house of Coucy until the death of Enguerrand VII.
