Cascade du Piaon

Alpes-Maritimes, Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur

The Piaon waterfall is at the bottom of a steep valley leading to the sanctuary of the Madone du Mont, a place of pilgrimage above Sospel in the hinterland of Nice, in the Alpes-Maritimes.

The water of the Merlanson plunges from a rock wall in a damp, green atmosphere, contrasting with the dry, sun-baked Mediterranean slopes around it. The path beside the waterfall is part of the traditional pilgrimage route from Sospel to the sanctuary, combining spiritual heritage and natural curiosity.
