Cascade du Heidenbad
The Heidenbad waterfall is at Wildenstein, in the Haut-Rhin, near Lac de Kruth-Wildenstein. The Thur throws itself there from the top of rocks; the height of the fall is given as between about ten and twenty metres depending on sources. The fall is often double.
Its name means "the pagans' bath": it refers to the giants' kettles carved in the rock along the fall, which tradition attributed to giants.
The site is signposted on the D318 road, and a short walk of about five minutes from the car park lets you reach it. Marked paths also start from Wildenstein, with information panels.
The Bockloch waterfall is a little further along the same road, and several hiking routes around the lake link the two falls to the ruins of Wildenstein castle.
