Cascade du Bockloch
The Bockloch waterfall is in the Vosges massif, on the shore of Lac de Kruth-Wildenstein, in the Haut-Rhin. The Hinter Bockloch torrent rushes down the slope from the Col du Bockloch and throws itself twice into the void before reaching the lake. The name could be translated as "the billy-goat's hole". The announced heights vary from 12 to 25 metres depending on sources.
The lake is an artificial reservoir built between 1959 and 1963. A free car park is near the lake, and a few minutes' walk is enough to reach the waterfall.
It is mostly spectacular in spring or after heavy rain. Several hiking loops pass nearby: the tour of the lake, accessible to people with reduced mobility, and a more sustained route that climbs to the ruins of Wildenstein castle before coming back down along the upper part of the fall.
