Cascade de la Pisserotte
The Pisserotte waterfall, also written Pisserote, is in the commune of Arfeuilles, in the Allier, in the heart of the Bourbonnais mountains. It is fed by the Barbenan, a stream that cuts into a wooded and picturesque valley.
The site is discovered on a hiking circuit that starts from the hamlet of Le Verger and descends into the Barbenan valley. The route crosses the Darots wood, reaches the foot of the waterfall, then passes near the Mas mill, an old water mill, before returning via the village of Les Biefs. Downstream of the mill, the river plunges into gorges where giant's kettles and small falls follow one another. The climb back from the foot of the waterfall is steep, and the path can become slippery in rain: it is best to bring good shoes and avoid the outing when the ground is soaked.
