Arboretum du château de Neuvic d'Ussel

Corrèze, Nouvelle-Aquitaine

The arboretum of the Château de Neuvic d'Ussel is a 6.5-hectare farm and landscape park in the heart of the commune of Neuvic, in the Corrèze. It was laid out in the 19th century by Jean-Hyacinthe d'Ussel, and most of its remarkable trees were planted between 1830 and 1870.

The site holds the 'Jardin Remarquable' and 'Arbre Remarquable de France' labels. It combines a Romantic English-style landscape, with a pond, aviary, rolling ground, groves and vistas, with more rustic areas such as an orchard and a priest's garden. Some 370 species of trees and shrubs are represented, including a remarkable tulip tree, a giant sequoia about forty metres high and a small-leaved lime. The route passes the Chapel of Saint-Guillaume, with contemporary stained glass. The site is open to the public in season, with self-guided and guided visits.
