Aquarium de Bonifacio

Corse-du-Sud, Corse

The Bonifacio Aquarium stands on the Quai Comparetti, at the foot of the citadel, in the port of Bonifacio in Corse-du-Sud. It is set in a natural cave, and its tanks are hollowed out of the rock.

It presents the marine fauna and flora of the Strait of Bonifacio, in the heart of a marine park: Mediterranean fish, crustaceans and invertebrates, including groupers, moray eels, spiny lobsters, starfish and red coral.

The aquarium is modest in size but its setting is unusual, and a visit usually takes less than two hours. It makes an easy stop for families strolling around the port, before or after a boat trip, a visit to the upper town or a walk towards the cliffs.

As opening periods could not be confirmed by a recent source, it is advisable to check with the Bonifacio tourist office before going.
