Aquabaule is the aquatic centre of La Baule, in the Loire-Atlantique, run for the Cap Atlantique community of communes.
It offers seawater pools heated to about 30 °C, indoors and outdoors: a 25-metre sports pool, a leisure pool, a giant 90-metre slide, jacuzzis, saunas and a hammam.
A chic seaside resort with one of the most beautiful bays in Europe, whose eight kilometres of fine sand border a pine-lined promenade.
On the edge of the Guérande salt marshes, close to La Baule, the listed Château de Careil hides a turbulent past.
Near the Pointe de Penchâteau at Le Pouliguen, the Korrigans' Cave is a sea cave some thirty metres long carved into gneiss.
A chequerboard of pans and basins where Guérande salt has been harvested for centuries by traditional methods.
