Abbaye royale de Chaalis
The royal abbey of Chaalis is a former Cistercian abbey at Fontaine-Chaalis, in the heart of the Ermenonville forest, opposite the Mer de Sable, in the Oise, about forty kilometres north-east of Paris.
The estate, listed as a historic monument on 9 September 1965, now contains the ruins of the old abbey church and cloister, the former abbey chapel with its Renaissance frescoes, a rose garden and a park, as well as the Musée Jacquemart-André, whose collections of paintings, sculptures and decorative arts are displayed in the château.
